Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is a warm and rustic safari lodge south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is situated on a 7,000ft ridge overlooking the forest and Virunga Mountains.
The lodge is eco-friendly as it was built and designed with natural materials sourced from the community around the lodge. This includes papyrus for the ceiling and wood for the floors with a touch of volcanic rock.
At the highest point of the property sits a grand lounge building. It houses the dining, drinks, coffee bar, and craft shop spaces with expansive 360-degree views of the gorgeous Virungas. The building has interesting local artwork hanging on the walls and many artifacts to admire. The dining serves incredible homemade meals and freshly-baked bread.
The lodge consists of eleven garden cottages, three luxury forest suites, and three family villas. All rooms have cozy beds, snug rugs, and en-suite facilities including a flush toilet, washbasin, and shower.
The rooms have spacious patios with scenic views of the beautiful landscapes. They are colorfully decorated with local carvings and printed fabrics. The forest suites have a private butler, as well as, exclusive room service.
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is situated in the heart of the Nkuringo local community. Guests can experience the vibrant cultures of the villages surrounding the lodge. Its position is also a fantastic base from which to go Mountain Gorilla tracking, nature walking, hiking, and birding in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
For children under 15, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge offers a variety of activities with a babysitter since they are not permitted to track gorillas. This will keep them entertained at the lodge while you go gorilla trekking.
