Kinigi Guest House, also known locally as “Village Touristique de Kinigi,” is located in the foothills of Sabyinyo, one of the Virunga ranges.
Kinigi Guesthouse was established to generate revenue for the “Association de Solidarité des Femmes Rwandaises” (ASOFERWA). This is a non-profit organization that benefits widows and orphans. The income generated by the Kinigi guest house pays for orphans’ school fees, buys land for agricultural projects, and supports groups for widows. Kinigi community members work at the Kinigi guest house, while food as well as other items are bought from the Kinigi community.
This facility offers self-contained furnished and spacious rooms. There are dormitories with communal bathrooms available for group travelers. There is also a suite with two bathrooms and a fireplace that sleeps up to four people. This is perfect for families. Guests looking for an outdoor experience can pitch their tents for a fee.
The guest house has a lounge with a fireplace where guests can relax. The restaurant here serves a variety of tasty dishes. African traditional dishes are served alongside international cuisines. The bar is well-stocked with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy while relaxing at the lodge.
There’s also a terrace with views of the lush highlands and volcanoes. This is a wonderful place to unwind and take in the breathtaking scenery.
The Kinigi Guesthouse is conveniently located for gorilla trekking because it is only 10 minutes from the park’s headquarters. Guests can also take part in a community walk to learn about the pygmy way of life. Walking to the Musanze caves or into the park, mountain climbing, bird watching, and visiting Dian Fossey’s grave are all activities available during your stay at the guest house.
