Samburu Express Safari in Kenya – 4 Days

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our driver will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your flight to Samburu.

You will leave Nairobi in the morning, arriving at Samburu an hour later where your 4 Days Samburu Express Safari guide will meet you and transfer you to the lodge or take you on a game drive with a picnic lunch in a scenic location within the exclusive Kalama Conservancy.

Here, you will enjoy your first detailed look at the unique landscapes and wildlife of northern Kenya, including finding the remarkable creatures that make up the Samburu Special Five.

Drive up to a classic Samburu viewpoint for sundowners before returning to the lodge for an Italian-inspired dinner

You will have early morning game drives in Samburu National Reserve to seek out the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the reticulated giraffe, the Grevy zebra, the beisa oryx, the Somali ostrich, and the gerenuk; all rare species that occur only in this part of the country and look for its well-known larger wildlife including elephants, lion, and leopard.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River before heading back to the lodge to relax for the afternoon.

Once the afternoon begins to cool, take a guided walk through the Kalama Conservancy, learning more about how the Samburu people thrive in this land.

Continue to explore the wonders of Samburu with a morning game drive and after lunch, explore local caves as your Samburu guides interpret the ancient rock paintings they contain.

Your afternoon game drive in Kalama Conservancy will end in a secluded dry riverbed, where you will enjoy a bush dinner under the stars, accompanied by traditional Samburu singing and dancing. The night drive back to the lodge after dinner often yields sightings of unusual nocturnal species.

Take an early morning game drive on your way to the airstrip enjoying for the last time the amazing wildlife and unending views of the Samburu Conservancy.

You will fly to Wilson Airport and then be driven to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight. Depending on the time of your flight, you can have dinner at the Talisman or Carnivore restaurant at your expense.

This will mark the end of your 4 Days Samburu Express Safari.
