Virunga Lodge – Volcanoes N.P

Virunga Lodge is a luxury eco-lodge in Rwanda’s northwestern region. It is set on a hilltop with terraced gardens and panoramic views of the Virunga Volcanoes, Musanze Valley, Lake Bulera, and Lake Ruhondo.

The lodge is built with solar energy and designed in a timeless Rwandese Afro-chic style. The main lodge is characterized by dark wooden floors and exposed beams. It has a comfortable lounge with a central fireplace, a dining room, and a small bar area.

The dining room has one large table where everyone dines together while the bar serves premium wines, whiskies, and cocktails. The guest experience here is distinguished by exceptional hospitality, locally inspired cuisine, and a private butler.

The warm stone and tile bandas at the lodge have a private terrace overlooking the dramatic landscape of mountains and lakes. Each luxurious banda has a fireplace and bathroom. They are furnished with Rwandese fabrics and locally inspired furniture.

The main activity carried out at the lodge is gorilla tracking. Guests at Virunga Lodge can hike to waterfalls or climb one of the nearby volcanoes. Another popular excursion is the golden monkey trekking, as well as the hike to Dian Fossey’s grave.

However, not all activities are strenuous. There is plenty of incredible scenery to enjoy during gentle strolls around villages near the lakes. You can also visit one of the local communities that directly benefit from Virunga Lodge.

Without leaving the lodge, visitors can enjoy entertainment from the Intore Dancers in the late afternoon or a fascinating educational exhibit in the Dian Fossey Map Room.

Enjoy complimentary spa treatments and massages, or watch the clouds cover the mountain slopes below you from your private terrace.

In the evenings, you can spend time around a log fire and tell stories about the day’s adventures.
