Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is a luxurious accommodation. It is set on the foothills of Mount Karisimbi and surrounded by a lush forest. Mount Karisimbi is one of the Virunga Mountain ranges.
The lodge boasts its eco-friendliness and help it extends to the local community. It was designed and constructed with locally sourced, sustainable materials.
The cottages at this lodge are separated from one another to provide privacy. They are spread throughout the lodge’s grounds and connected to the main building by neat paths.
The cottages are built with stones and grass thatching to resemble African architecture. Each cottage is spacious and features a fireplace, a living room, and a private veranda.
The main building houses the common amenities. It is made of stones, bricks, and tiles with breathtaking views of rugged, forested mountains. There is a sizable restaurant area with fascinating artifacts.
The restaurant offers fine regional cuisine made with farm-fresh ingredients. There is also a cozy lounge as well as a well-stocked bar, a delightful dining terrace, and a fire pit area. All these are great for unwinding and meeting other guests.
The lodge is 1km from Volcanoes National Park where guests track mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Hikes around the park and to Dian Fossey’s tomb are also available. On these hikes, one may spot buffalo, spotted hyenas, or black-fronted duiker.
Visitors can explore lakes and caves near the park or climb the Bisoke and Karisimbi volcanoes. You can gain a unique insight into Rwandan culture from Iby’Iwacu cultural village tour or entertainment from local cultural dancers.
In between activities, guests can take a stroll through the lodge’s beautifully manicured gardens. You may spot birds and monkeys in the gardens while you stroll around.
