Hélène Ndasingwa and Lando constructed the hotel in the 1980’s. It was built to give its visitors a tranquil setting. During the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, this hotel was destroyed. It has since been renovated and is now run by Lando’s sister, Anne Marie Kantengwa. The architecture of the new extensions blends well with its surroundings; sleek and modern, reflecting Rwanda’s new face.
The hotel offers delightful rooms with private patios where you can take in views of the vast gardens and Kigali‘s beautiful hills. There is a minibar, flat-screen TV, and laptop safe in every room. The en-suite bathrooms include a bath and a shower as well as complimentary toiletries for your convenience.
There are two dining options: the French restaurant La Fringale and the BBQ grill Chez Lando. The Barbeque Grill provides a unique experience in a friendly and fun atmosphere while La Fringale provides more formal dining with a variety of meals and a selection of South African and French wines. A skilled chef uses both domestic and foreign ingredients to prepare the meals served in the restaurant. There is a well-equipped bar with a wide variety of drinks where you may sit and enjoy your preferred beverage.
There is also a popular local dance club, a children’s playground, and a business center with internet access.
Given its location in Kigali, Chez Lando is conveniently close to both the airport and the city’s center. The Presidential Palace Museum and Ntarama Church are two of the area’s well-known buildings, while Inema Art Center and Ivuka Arts Kigali are cultural highlights.
