Overview

This 8-day African safari takes you on an incredible journey to see the mountain gorillas in Uganda and the great wildebeest migration in Kenya’s Masai Mara.

Your trip starts off in Entebbe Uganda before you proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will see endangered mountain gorillas in their natural rainforest habitat.

You will hike in the thick forest to find the mountain gorillas, and then spend 1 hour observing them before heading back. From Bwindi, you will then go back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator line for some classic equator photos, and then continue to Kampala.

You will fly from Entebbe to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. In Masai Mara, you will go on several game drives to see the plentiful animals that live in this wonderful savannah. If your safari is during the migration, season, you will get to experience the wonderful chaos of the great wildebeest migration.

On the last day, you will transfer from Masai Mara to Nairobi for your onward flight.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, transfer to Kampala

Our driver/guide will wait for you at Entebbe International Airport and welcome you to Uganda. You will then be transferred to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will embark on a drive from Kampala to Bwindi in the southwestern part of Uganda. You will drive by the Ugandan countryside with farms, small towns, plantations and interesting landscapes on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National park.
With plenty of interesting stopovers along the way and you will reach your lodge in the evening.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is gorilla trekking day and you will wake up early to have breakfast and be at the park offices at 7:00 am. You will be briefed by the Park rangers on all the procedures before you can start your trek.
In groups of 8 and the rangers, you will go into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas that call this dense rainforest home. The trek can be quite challenging but meeting the gorillas will make all that sweat more than worth it.
You will spend 1 hour with the gorillas after which you will be led back to the starting point by your guide.
You will spend your afternoon relaxing at the lodge and enjoying the views of the forest.

Day 4: Transfer back to Entebbe

You will have an early morning breakfast and explore the local area and the forest for a while in the company of your driver/guide. After having your lunch, you will leave Bwindi and return to Entebbe.
With few stops this time, you should reach Entebbe in the evening.

Day 5: Transfer to the Airport and fly to Masai Mara.

After breakfast, at your will and flight schedule, your guide will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve with Aero link.

Day 6: Wildlife Game Drives in Masai Mara National Reserve

Depending on the Wildlife migration patterns and the weather, Early morning breakfast followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. The Masai Mara is famous for its black mane lions and the annual wildebeest migration.

This is probably one of Kenya’s most visited reserves with an extraordinary density of animals including the Big five and many other varieties of savannah wildlife.
The Mara River cuts through the Mara and Serengeti ecosystems giving life to both reserves before finally pouring out into Lake Victoria.
Impressive and most notable is the wildebeest, zebra and gazelle instinct led migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Mara in Kenya.
This journey is coupled with numerous obstacles which makes it even more magnificent. You will have a picnic lunch and continue with the game drives arriving at the lodge in the evening for a well-deserved rest and a hot relaxing shower.

Day 7: More Masai Mara Wildlife game drives

After Breakfast, you will go for yet another game drive as you follow the Migration of the wildebeests cross the Mara River.

Day 8: Transfer from Masai Mara to Nairobi

You will be treated to an optional final early morning game drive after which you will return to the lodge for breakfast. Embark on your safari back to Nairobi at around mid-morning.
You will have a brief stopover at Narok town and later proceed to Nairobi city and to the JKIA for your flight back home.

When is the best time for Masai Mara Migration
Since the great migration happens between Kenya and Tanzania, the best time for this trip is during the dry season months, From June to October when the millions of animals will be migrating.
This is also a great time for gorilla trekking.
Animals and gorillas can still be seen in all the places, at any time of the year if your schedule is less flexible.
