This safari of Amboseli & Tsavo takes you on a wonderful journey to explore the rich wildlife of Kenya’s Amboseli as well as the two Tsavo National Parks.

In Amboseli, you will enjoy wildlife and views of the prominent Mount Kilimanjaro across the border in Tanzania. In Tsavo, you will see more spectacular scenery including the Mzima springs. In all the parks, you will see animals such as elephants, zebras, lions, leopards, buffalos, cheetahs, hippos, and much more.

Here is the full day-by-day itinerary for this tour

Day 1: Arrival at JKIA/Nairobi, transfer to Amboseli National Park

Pick up from the airport or Nairobi Hotel in the morning. Drive to Amboseli National Park arriving for lunch. Enjoy afternoon game drives until 1800 hrs.

Here you can see many wild animals such as buffalos, lions, zebras, cheetahs, wildebeests, jackals, spotted hyenas, and warthogs, among others. It’s also home to the largest herds of Elephants that you can see anywhere in Africa.

The snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro is also visible on a clear day with the swamps and marshes being home to hundreds of bird species.

Day 2:Drive to Tsavo West, Wildlife game drives

After breakfast, check out and drive to Tsavo West. Enjoy en-route game viewing as you head to your lodge. Lunch, followed by afternoon game drives.

Besides the wildlife sightings, some other highlights here include the Mzima Springs which is one of the leading attractions.

Tsavo West is more mountainous and wetter than its counterpart, with swamps, Lake Jipe, and the Mzima Springs. It is known for birdlife and for its large mammals e.g., black rhino, Cape buffalo, elephant, gerenuk, leopard, hippo, and lion.

There are also other smaller animals that can be spotted in the park, such as the bushbaby, hartebeest, lesser kudu, and Maasai giraffe.

Day 3:Drive to Tsavo East, Wildlife game drives

After early breakfast, check out and enjoy en-route game viewing as you depart for Tsavo East. Lunch at your lodge followed by afternoon game viewing.

Tsavo East is noted for its vast elephant herds and a variety of animals including buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, zebra, and plains game of almost every kind.

The slightly larger Tsavo East is generally flat, with dry plains across which the Galana River flows. Other features include the Yatta Plateau, The Mudanda Rock, and Lugard Falls.

Day 4: Transfer back to Nairobi

After breakfast, depart for Voi town. You will board your morning Standard Gauge Railway train for a scenic ride through Tsavo West and onwards back to Nairobi.

The journey, although on a more modern rail, takes you through the original route of the famous “Lunatic Express” which was built in 1896 to connect the port of Mombasa to the rest of Kenya, all the way to Uganda.

Safari ends in Nairobi SGR Station. This will mark the end of your 4 days Amboseli & Tsavo safari holiday.
